About the event

Our introduction to backpacking workshop is a one day class that introduces you to all aspects of equipment and trip planning.

Topics include:

  • Choosing the right backpack, Sleeping bag, and pad
  • What to pack in your kitchen kit
  • Nutrition basics
  • First Aid kit contents
  • Emergency kit contents
  • Clothing
  • Tents or tarps?
  • Maps, GPS or both
  • Basic compass skills
  • Managing human waste (Leave No Trace Principles)

What we provide:

  • A variety of equipment for you to check out
  • Maps & Compasses
  • A fun and educational experience

What to bring:

  • You personal backpacking equipment, if you have any
  • Lunch
  • A sense of adventure
