About the event
Do you like to spend time in the woods? Do you enjoy hiking, backpacking, hunting, fishing, paddling, motor boating, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing…? Are you a Maine Guide or aspiring Maine Guide? Are you a part of a Search & Rescue team?
Whether you are a professional rescuer or you enjoy spending time in the backcountry with friends and family this course is for you! You will learn to read and interpret the language of maps. After you feel confident in map reading we will help you to unlock the mystery of the compass. It is a simple but very effective tool that doesn’t rely on satellites or batteries. The final portion of the course is learning to use them together.
