About the event

Are you prepared for handling the unexpected on the water? Practice in handling common mishaps and unexpected situations can improve your confidence and your margin of safety on the water. Whether you are First Aid certified or less experienced in handling injuries, this half-day session will allow you to develop and hone your practical knowledge and skills on the water. North Star Adventures is offering a special day of training for members of SMSKN on July 27th! The 5-hour course is designed to develop and support practice of skills for basic first aid and common on-water emergencies. Depending on the backgrounds of participants, topics may include but are not limited to: fundamentals of wilderness first aid afloat, on-land role plan and practice, handling incapacitation or injury away from shore, incident management and more!

There will be limit of 12 participants.  Fee: 75.00. If you are a member of SMSKN contact them for the code to get your discount.

We will be launching Mitchell Field in Harpswell. Please be at the launch and ready to go by 10:00am.

Trip Level: Novice. Participants should have experience with wet exits aSea kayak

What to Bring: 

  • Paddle
  • PFD
  • Spray skirt
  • Lunch
  • Water
  • Dress appropriately for cold water immersion, with temps typical for July in Maine.nd re-entry.

OPTIONAL: tow belt or contact tow line.
