Paddle Maine Monday: Fort Point

Departing from Sandy Point Beach in Stockton Springs, we will paddle to Fort Point State Park. At this location, we can unwind on the sandy beach, swim, and stroll up to the lighthouse (it is a private residence, so entry is not permitted). Beyond the lighthouse, the distinctive twisted and rusty coastline emerges. This particular cliff section is unique along the Maine Coast. I've never encountered such twisted and vibrant cliffs elsewhere. The rusty orange and yellow hues combined with the bright green sea lettuce create a visual feast. The rocks twist and turn, resembling serpents in some areas. At the northern end of Penobscot Bay, you will enjoy the wide-ranging views of the bay.

Who This Trip Is For

This is a beginner to intermediate tour. Participants should have some prior sea kayaking experience. We will teach paddling technique prior to launching.
