Sea Kayaking Skills Series: May 31, June 1 & 2

This class is designed for those who want to gain the skills and confidence to safely execute a full day sea kayaking trip with friends or family. We will focus on paddle technique, re-entries, towing, and navigation. Session 1 will be on Unity Pond. Session 2 we will launch from Stockton Springs. After consulting our group and charts we will decide the location for session 3.

Session 1:

• Introduction to Equipment: Paddles, Kayaks, PFD’s, Safety Gear, Clothing, and Repair kits

• Useful Knots: Bowline, Truckers Hitch, Clove Hitch, Figure 8, Double Fisherman’s and Daisy Chain

• Paddle Technique

• Re-entries, Rescues, and Towing
